The city of Almaty won the medal standings at the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament

The Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament was a strong international event in Turkistan where boxers from the city of Almaty were the most successful team.

Boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 could compete in the 13th edition of the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament where 140 talents fought for the medals.

The city of Turkistan is located in the south part of Kazakhstan and it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Turkistan has also a new airport and famous for its international boxing tournaments, those the city hold every year.

Mr. Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov was Kazakhstan’s legendary super heavyweight boxer who claimed several medals during his career in the major events. He achieved silver medals in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the Houston 1999 World Boxing Championships and an important title at the Bangkok 1998 Asian Games.

The city of Almaty won the medal standings with 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, ahead of the strong Karagandy region. Turkistan region, Astana, Dzhambul region and Mangystau regions earned the remaining gold medals at the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament.

The foreign teams of the Dildabekov Prizes Youth Tournament such as Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, all bagged medals in the city of Turkistan.

The first winner of the competition was Almaty’s Adil Askanbay who stopped Shymkent’s Imangali Auez in the opening final. The referee stopped their contest in the first round after Askanbay’s heavy combinations and confirmed his RSC triumph.

Adilbek Kozhakhan and Khamza Maksatuly were the further winners from Almaty city in the competition, the first defeated Yerassyl Meyramkhan, while the second Bibarys Ashirbay of Dzhambul region in their final bouts.

The ASBC Asian Junior Champion Timur Taybekov joined the youth age group this January and the 17-year-old talent was unstoppable for all of his light heavyweight (80kg) opponents, including Tajikistan’s Khujamuminjon Kholov in the final.

The ASBC Asian Youth Champion Rassul Assankhanov dominated the heavyweight and he stopped Mukagali Makhambetaly in the final of the event. Mangystau region’s Dias Ayupov triumphed over Zhanatbek Akzhan and he won the super heavyweight title in Turkistan.
