Spotlight on Kazakhstan’s top U22 boxer, Elina Bazarova and her career

Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova won her an important Asian title and she was announced as the Best Woman U22 Boxer at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, French Polynesia, IBA-India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, IBA-Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam were the 23 participating nations in this championship.

Elina Bazarova was born in the city of Shymkent in South Kazakhstan on March 25 in 2004 and she won her first national title in the junior age group in 2019.

She claimed a bronze medal at the 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates and returned among the youth boxers with a gold medal at the Golden Gloves of Vojvodina in Serbia in 2022.

La Nucia in Spain hosted the 2022 IBA Youth World Boxing Championships and she became Kazakhstan’s first female finalist in the event. She replaced the ASBC Asian Youth Champion Viktoriya Baidukova in the national team at the women’s bantamweight (54kg) with a top success. Bazarova was confident in all of her appearances in La Nucia and she dominated the final bout against Germany’s Chrisovalantou Koutsochristou and her peed guaranteed Kazakhstan’s first gold medal in La Nucia two and half years ago.

She was selected to take part at the 2024 ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships which took place in Astana, Kazakhstan 13 months ago. Elina Bazarova and India’s Paris Olympian Preeti both have impressive during their career and they have similar style of boxing therefore their final bout was an anticipated one. The younger Kazakh landed better shots in the first round in this women’s bantamweight (54kg) final but the Indian increased her speed in the beginning of the second round and surprisingly she was able to turn back their tight final contest in Astana.

Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova, their Youth World Champion, competed in several elite preparation tournaments throughout from Poland to her homeland and she returned to the level of the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships last month. She impressed in the fourth female final and she defeated Vietnam’s technician and promising Ngo Thi Mai Chuc at the bantamweight (54kg) to take the Asian title.
