Fourteen junior talents earned gold medals at the Miroshnichenko Memorial Tournament

Fourteen young talents earned gold medals at the Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament in Kostanay.
The city of Kostanay is one of the important boxing regions in Kazakhstan and their first international event in 2025 was the Miroshnichenko Memorial. Mrs. Svetlana Mahleyt is the engine and the main organizer of the events in Kostanay where two more big events will be coming soon in 2025.
The annual Aleksandr Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament was held for the 2009 and 2010 born boxers in Kostanay where the total number of boxers was 102 in the event. The junior international competition took place in 14 weight classes: 44kg, 46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg and +80kg.
The junior competition was named after Mr. Aleksandr “Alex” Miroshnichenko, who claimed a bronze medal at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games and a silver at the Moscow 1989 World Boxing Championships. The super heavyweight boxer who represented the Soviet Union during his successful career, died in Kostanay in 2003.
Two of the boxers from the 2010 age group as Madi Amankhan (44kg) and Aruen Yeskenov (46kg) won the smallest weight categories in Kostanay following their victories over Kostanay-based talents, Yersultan Maydonov and Alisher Mukhamediyev.
Turkistan region’s Kuanysh Kuralbay won four contests in Kostanay to win the title of the flyweight (50kg) and he looked very confident in all of his challenges.
Astana’s Yeldos Medetuly was too strong for his opponents at the light bantamweight (52kg) including Meiyrzhan Telkozy in the final. Another 15-year-old boxer from Astana, Yunus Rakhymzhan stopped his final rival at the bantamweight (54kg), Azamat Dzhalimbekov.
Astana’s third-in-a-row gold medal was achieved by Batyr Nurtayev who dominated all of his four bouts in Kostanay. Among the local boys, Vyacheslav Kim became the first winner, he made Kostanay proud after his final at the lightweight (60kg) against Sultan Zhakupov.
Astana’s Dias Alibek (66kg), another strong talent from the capital city, Kamal Baltashev (70kg), Pavlodar’s Aslan Maksatuly (75kg), Kostanay’s Anton Bruner and Astana’s Nurdaulet Kaldar (+80kg) are the further boxers who need to be watched in the future.
Iraq sent six boxers to the Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament for the very first time and among them Ali Takleef Almohaimen (50kg), Mohammed Alaa Ghanim (52kg), Sajjad Hayder Zghair (60kg), Mohammed Hussein Ali Khatem (80kg) and Sabri Yahya Radhwan (+80kg) all claimed medals in Kostanay.
