Kazakhstan made a clean sweep in the women’s youth finals in Colombo

Kazakhstan’s made a clean sweep in the women’s youth finals at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka today.

Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, French Polynesia, IBA-India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, IBA-Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the 23 participating nations in this championship.

Kazakhstan’s 17-year-old Aiym Tankibayeva and IBA-India’s Chanchal Kumari joined the finals at the women’s youth minimumweight (48kg). The Kazakh talent controlled the first round and she had the advantage on the scorecards after three minutes of fight. The referee counted the Indian boxer twice in the final which meant that Tankibayeva won the first gold medal in the championships.

Kazakhstan’s Sila Bibolsynkyzy impressed in the recent IBA and ASBC Championships and the light flyweight (50kg) boxer advanced to the finals to meet IBA-India’s Kashish Malik for the title. The Indian tried to surprise her Central Asian opponent in the first round but Bibolsynkyzy increased her tempo in time to take the lead on the scorecards. The Kazakh girl had to give in everything in the last round to win this exciting final bout in Colombo.

Kazakhstan’s Rakhmina Abdumezhitova was patient in the first round against Thailand’s Saranporn Phonpoon and her uppercuts guaranteed the advantage after three minutes. The Kazakh flyweight (52kg) boxer was able to keep the same rhythm against the talented Thai in the second and third rounds to earn the gold medal.

Kazakhstan’s Zhanel Imantayeva had a close success against Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Farinoz Abdulloyeva in the semi-finals of the bantamweight (54kg) and she expected another hard battle against Vietnam’s Vu Thi Thom. The Southeast Asian boxer tried to keep the best fighting distance and she counter-attacked the aggressive Imantayeva. Vu was under pressure in the second part of the final bout therefore Imantayeva claimed Kazakhstan’s fourth female title in Colombo.

Kazakhstan’s Aknur Tursyngali overcame Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Bich in the attacks and she had the world-class footwork to gain the control of the women’s featherweight (57kg) final immediately. The Kazakh boxer enjoyed the final from the second round, she landed shots from all of the possible ranges and her defensive skills overmatched Nguyen Thi Bich to win the title bout unanimously.

Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Tolganay Kassymkhan arrived to Colombo as the titleholder of the women’s lightweight (60kg). The strong boxer faced Kyrgyzstan’s Adelia Asylbek Kyzy and she had the jabs in the first round to take the lead immediately. Kassymkhan shocked her Kyrgyz opponent with an eye-catching punch and the referee stopped their final in the second round.

Kazakhstan’s Alina Kudaigenova also won several big championships already during her career and she was well-prepared to the next one against Sri Lanka’s Arachchige Wijesinghe. The 17-year-old boxer demonstrated her power in the first minute and the Sri Lankan corner abandoned the unequal light welterweight (63kg) final.

Kazakhstan’s next star, Akbota Yessimbekova defeated their Junior World Champion Aisulu Mukhit to be here in Colombo at the championships. The welterweight (66kg) boxer was not only dominant in the first exchanges but she knocked out IBA-India’s Garima which is very rare in women’s boxing.

Kazakhstan’s Mariya Sidorenko competed in the last edition of the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships with successes and she arrived to Colombo after her great preparation tournaments. The 18-year-old Kazakh put her Vietnamese opponent, Truong Ha Vy under pressure and she finished the job quickly in the first round.

Kazakhstan’s Zarina Tolybay and Kyrgyzstan’s Zarina Asanova met in the final of the middleweight (75kg) as next and the first found the best rhythm earlier than her neighbour. Asanova injured in the second round therefore the gold medal went to Tolybay while her teammate, Kuralay Yeginbaikyzy was fantastic in the next heavyweight (81kg) final. Sabina Zhaksylyk made the clean sweep for Kazakhstan with her final RSC victory over IBA-India’s Priyal Garg in Colombo.
