Akhmadi Arvaz won the bout of the day in Colombo

Kyrgyzstan’s Asian Junior Champion Akhmadi Arvaz eliminated his main rival at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka today and he remained unbeaten since November 2023. Arvaz lost his coach Mr. Ernist Asygaliev this year and the 16-year-old talent fought for his bright memory.
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, French Polynesia, IBA-India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, IBA-Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the 23 participating nations in this championship.
Kazakhstan’s Mukhit Nurkabyluly is not the most experienced in their youth national team but the light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer looked confident against Malaysia’s Hallary Boy in the first round. The Kazakh southpaw had excellent stopping jabs in the first round and the Slovakian referee counted the Malaysian once in the second which guaranteed Nurkabyluly’s clear success in the opening bout of Day4.
Tajikistan’s Mukhammadsulton Sultonov travelled to preparation tournaments before the start of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships. The experienced Tajik moved forward to catch Sri Lanka’s Azhar Sarmin Gafoor Mohamed in the first round and he had more punches than his local opponent. Sultonov’s international routine was decisive between them today and the Tajik advanced to the next round at the youth welterweight (67kg).
Kazakhstan’s Sultan Turdaly claimed a bronze medal at the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament in Budva this March and he was selected at the welterweight (67kg) to compete in Colombo. The Kazakh had a competitive opponent, Kuwait’s Mohamed Abdulaziz in his opener and he tried to use his longer hands to keep the best distance. The southpaw from Kuwait was able to keep the rhythm until the last gong but Turdaly managed to win this meeting in Colombo.
Kyrgyzstan’s Akhmadi Arvaz is the ASBC Asian Junior Champion, the winner of the CIS Games and many international tournaments. The Kyrgyz had to meet in an early final against Kazakhstan’s Bekarys Nurmukhan but he tried to rule the middle of the ring and gain the immediate control of this superb light middleweight (71kg) bout. Nurmukhan found his best tempo in the end of the first round while Arvaz worked from closer distance in the battle of the top southpaw boxers. The Kyrgyz was able to keep the focus until the last seconds well enough to win this crucial and world-class tactical contest.
IBA-India’s Yash Kumar and IBA-Iraq’s Hussein Ahmed Alsunaidi faced in the first youth cruiserweight (86kg) bout of the championships and the first won their meeting by large margin of differences. Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Kystaubay did not underestimate Tajikistan’s ASBC medallist Rustam Mamadpanoyev and he also advanced to the semi-finals in this weight class as Kumar.
Kyrgyzstan’s Adelia Asylbek Kyzy and Sri Lanka’s Karijj Nanayakkara Nanayakkarawasam met in the lone female bout of the fourth session in Colombo. The Kyrgyz boxer lives and trains in the Chui region and moved down to the lightweight (60kg) successfully to beat her Sri Lankan opponent easily.
