Astana’s Akbota Yessimbekova eliminated a Junior World Champion in the quarter-finals of the Kazakhstan Youth Sports Games

Astana’s Akbota Yessimbekova eliminated a Junior World Champion, Aisulu Mukhit at the Kazakhstan Youth National Sports Games in the city of Kyzyl-Orda during the women’s quarter-finals.
The city of Kyzyl-Orda is located in south-central Kazakhstan and it is the capital of the region with the population of more than 300,000 inhabitants.
Kazakhstan’s Andrei Yeskin Youth Memorial, the Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Tournament, the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament and the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial were preparation competitions for the Youth National Sports Games.
Altogether 96 female and 218 male boxers are competing in the Kazakhstan Youth Sports Games in Kyzyl-Orda to earn the 25 medals. The 2007 and 2008 born boxers are eligible to participate in the competition which will be a strong selection event for this age group.
Akmola region’s Diana Serikpayeva in one of the favourites at the women’s minimumweight (48kg) and she is now a guaranteed medallist after beating Anna Savchenko of Shymkent by RSC in the second round. Almaty’s Ayaulym Nurlankyzy, Violetta Kim and Ayzhan Murat are the further medallists in this weight class.
Turkestan region’s Asian Junior silver medallist Aiym Tankibayeva eliminated Akmola region’s Merey Tokkarina in the quarter-finals of the women’s light flyweight (50kg). The 16-year-old talent will meet Sila Bybolsynkyzy in one of the most exciting semi-finals of the whole female tournament.
Abay’s Zhanel Imantayeva was amazing in the previous youth competitions and she triumphed over Almaty’s Balsaya Akhanova at the bantamweight (54kg). Atyrau region’s Junior World bronze medallist Gaukhar Zarden, Zhamilya Bolatbekkyzy and Valeriya Vaydeman all advanced to the last four.
Abay’s next excellent female boxer, Aknur Tursyngali is also 16 as Imantayeva but she defeated a more experienced talent, Regina Tibenova from the Almaty region. A local girl, Akerke Adilkhankyzy had a very tough battle against Anastasiya Guseva but she managed to win their featherweight (57kg) quarter-final by 3:2 split decision.
Karagandy region’s Ayazhan Yermek eliminated Nuray Kungeybay in her opener but the national team member lost to Pavlodar’s Evnika Sadvakasova which was one of the top sensations of the session. The ASBC Asian Junior Champion Tolganay Kassymkhan was better in this strong lightweight (60kg) challenge as Yermek and she defeated Ayaru Serikbay in the day of the quarter-finals.
Astana’s Akbota Yessimbekova defeated the Junior World Champion Aisulu Mukhit in the final of the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament in Montenegro this March. The 18-year-old boxer had to meet her main rival at the welterweight (66kg) already in the quarter-finals and she repeated that success, this time by bout review.
