Bobokulova, Baidukova, Ilyasov and Mursal are among the winners of the strong Great Silk Way Tournament

The Great Silk Way Tournament is the top competition of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation and several Asian and European nations participated with world-class boxers this year.
As in all of the previous editions, the Great Silk Way Tournament was held in Azerbaijan’s capital city in Baku where 44 female and 175 male boxers competed for the 20 available gold medals.
Uzbekistan’s multiple Asian Champion Sabina Bobokulova had a unique final at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) against Azerbaijan’s Marjona Savriyeva who competed for Uzbekistan in the past. The small Bobokulova used her different rhythm to keep the control of their final and she earned a title for Uzbekistan in Baku.
Kazakhstan’s 2022 Youth World Champion Elina Bazarova proved her strong progress in Baku and she defeated Russia’s experienced Daria Panteleyeva at the women’s bantamweight (54kg) final.
Kazakhstan’s next young female talent, the ASBC Asian Junior Champion Viktoriya Baidukova amazed at the featherweight (57kg) where she triumphed over a 15-year-older Russian veteran, Daria Abramova by 4:1 split decision.
Kazakhstan’s Baglan Kenzhebek started the year with a gold medal at the Boxam Tournament in Spain and he achieved his next title in Baku after beating Russia’s Maksim Kuznetsov at the men’s bantamweight (54kg) final.
Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian U22 bronze medallist Sayat Ilyasov controlled the light welterweight (63.5kg) final against Russia’s Sandan Sandanov. Kazakhstan’s Youth World silver medallist Nurbek Mursal also defeated a Russian boxer, Igor Sviridchenkov, and he earned the title of the light middleweight (71kg).
Kazakhstan’s Youth World Champion, the 19-year-old Sanzhar-Ali Begaliyev managed to his pathway to the final of the middleweight (75kg) but he lost to Azerbaijan’s ex-Uzbek Saidjamshid Jafarov, the two-time ASBC Asian Elite Champion.
Cambodia’s Anvar Nasredinov and Kyrgyzstan’s Sagyn Satybaldy Uulu bagged bronze medals at the busy men’s light heavyweight (80kg) in Baku.
Tajikistan’s next generation boxers such as the CIS States Youth Games winner Meroj Sufijonov (51kg), Khusravkhon Rakhimov (57kg) and the ASBC Asian Youth medallist Ruslan Gafurov (63.5kg) all earned medals in Baku.
Azerbaijan’s best boxers such as Zeynab Rahimova, Aynur Rzayeva, Nijat Huseynov, Mahammadali Gasimzade and the World Champion Loren Berto Alfonso all won their weight categories in Baku.
