The Uzbeks and the Kazakhs were dominant in the men’s quarter-finals at the 76th Strandja Memorial Tournament

The Uzbeks and the Kazakhs amazed in the men’s quarter-finals at the 76th edition of the Strandja Memorial Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria on Day4.
The Strandja Memorial Tournament is Bulgaria’s main international competition and the oldest elite event worldwide therefore such strong nations as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China, Chinese Taipei, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria and many others are there.
Uzbekistan’s teenager, Bekhruz Kholdorov is the new No.1 at the minimumweight (48kg) and he demonstrated his technical skills against Georgia’s more experienced former European Champion Sakhil Alakhverdovi.
Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Sabit achieved a silver medal already at the 2021 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai and he progressed a lot since that event. The currently 23-year-old boxer outpointed Georgia’s Davit Japaridze while his teammate, Talgat Syrymbetov was also unstoppable for Bulgaria’s Tinko Banabakov.
Uzbekistan’s defending ASBC Asian Elite Champion at the flyweight (51kg), Asilbek Jalilov had a tough opponent, England’s promising Ellis Trowbridge who won the Boxam Tournament earlier this month. The English boy was competitive for Jalilov but the Uzbek produced a great final round to win one of the best contests of the session.
The two favourites of the men’s featherweight (57kg), Kazakhstan’s Orazbek Assylkulov and Uzbekistan’s Khujanazar Nortojiyev both advanced to the semi-finals while the Youth World Champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan also controlled his bout on Day4.
Kazakhstan’s World silver medallist Serik Temirzhanov won all of the three rounds against Ireland’s Rhys Owens and he managed to win his second contest in Sofia. His compatriot, Mukhammedsabyr Bazarbay Uulu eliminated another Irish boxer, Jason Nevin at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
Kazakhstan’s Sabyrzhan Akkalykov competes at the middleweight (75kg) in the Strandja Memorial and he impressed in his new category. The 2021 Youth World Champion switched his style several times to find the best angles against Italy’s Remo Salvati and he managed to beat his opponent on Day4.
Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Elite Champion Javokhir Ummataliyev was born in 2005 but he is one of the stars at the middleweight (75kg). The 19-year-old Uzbek had a dominant performance against Azerbaijan’s Mirsharif Kazimzada and he joined the last four in Sofia.
Uzbekistan’s Youth World Champion Fazliddin Erkinboyev is a fantastic talent who moved up to the light heavyweight (80kg). He was untouchable for Bulgaria’s Miroslav Dimitrov and his long-range tactics and counter-attacks dominated their meeting.
