Nortojiyev and Isroilov were the surprise male winners at the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships

Two youngsters as Khujanazar Nortojiyev and Akmaljon Isroilov earned surprise gold medals at the Uzbekistan Elite National Championships in Tashkent.

Shodiyorjon Melikuziev, the reigning ASBC Asian Champion at the men’s minimumweight (48kg), managed his pathway to the finals and he defeated a surprise boxer there, Bekhruz Kholdorov who eliminated the former Asian Champion Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov.

Bukhara’s defending ASBC Asian Champion at the flyweight (51kg), Asilbek Jalilov was almost untouchable in the entire competition and he defeated Tashkent region’s Asian U22 Champion Mukhammadkodir Mamirjonov in the final.

Bukhara’s next gold medal was achieved by Shakhzod Muzafarov at the bantamweight (54kg), following that he defeated Mirzabek Mirzakhalilov and Andizhan’s Faryozbek Dustmatov in the last two competition days to take the title.

Surkhondarya’s Khujanazar Nortojiyev eliminated Nodirbek Allaberganov at the men’s featherweight (57kg) semi-final and he made the biggest surprise in the final day when he defeated the 2019 World Champion Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov. Another youngster, Madiyar Daniyarov from Karakalpakstan won the lightweight (60kg) for the first time.

The light welterweight (63.5kg) was the most difficult category in Tashkent and finally the 2023 World Champion Ruslan Abdullayev was able to beat the reigning ASBC Asian Champion, Adkhamjon Mukhiddinov. Andizhan’s Mujibullo Tursunov had the routine to beat Tashkent region’s Shavkatjon Boltayev at the men’s welterweight (67kg).

Andizhan’s Ikboljon Kholdarov had a fantastic year in 2017 when he earned an Asian title and also achieved a silver at the World Championships. The 27-year-old boxer returned in top shape and he defeated Khavasbek Asadullayev at the light middleweight (71kg) final.

Tashkent’s Javokhir Ummataliyev is only 19 but he is the defending ASBC Asian Elite Champion at the middleweight (75kg) and he proved his very best against the World bronze medallist Alokhon Abdullayev. Another 19-year-old talent, Fazliddin Erkinboyev achieved the gold of the light heavyweight (80kg) after beating Nurislom Ismoilov of Ferghana.

Andizhan’s Akmaljon Isroilov was Youth World Champion in 2024 but it was his first ever elite national competition in Tashkent. The teenager exceeded the expectations and he defeated the former Asian Youth Champion Nusratbek Tokhirov at the cruiserweight (86kg) final.

The Asian Champion and Paris Olympian Turabek Khabibullayev moved up to the heavyweight (92kg) successfully and he had the strong performance to beat a World bronze medallist veteran, Madiyar Saydrakhimov. The multiple Asian Champion Jakhongir Zokirov defended his throne at the super heavyweight (+92kg) against Arman Makhanov.
