The Technical Meeting of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships confirmed the participation of 210 boxers

The Technical Meeting of the ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships took place at the Phucome Hotel and it has officially confirmed the number of the boxer is 210 from 21 nations.

Mr. Bassam Ghanem, the ASBC Competition Manager opened the Technical Meeting with his speech in Chiang Mai.

Mr. Chaiwat Chotima, the ASBC Honorary Vice-President, welcomed all of the participating nations and he underlined that the ASBC President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira will be present on the Opening Ceremony tomorrow.

Thailand Boxing Association had only 20 days to prepare for the re-scheduled ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships due to the change of the venue from Amman to Chiang Mai. Mr. Chaiwat Chotima underlined the high standard of the competition and the hard work of the local organizers to support the teams.

Mr. Kraitach Kaewkate, the ASBC Sports Manager, reminded the teams to be punctual in the transportations, the traffic will be very busy in the upcoming days due to the festivals in Chiang Mai.

The Technical Delegate of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships Mrs. Sadie Duffy of Ireland continued the Technical Meeting with the competition related information as the schedule, the daily weigh-in, the key competition rules, the equipment, the code of conduct, the medal ceremonies, the medical and the antidoping procedures.

The Maejo University Stadium is the venue of the championships which will be checked also by the ASBC President today evening.

The Roll Call confirmed the participation of the following 21 nations: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, host Thailand, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

The Opening Ceremony will be held in the venue at 2pm on November 30, and the first session will start after that 30 minutes later tomorrow. The finals are divided into two days, and those will be held on December 10 and 11.

The elite women boxers will be able to compete in the following weight categories: 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 81kg and +81kg. The elite men boxers will have the right to participate also in 13 different weight categories: 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63.5kg, 67kg, 71kg, 75kg, 80kg, 86kg, 92kg and +92kg.
