Five of the Asians won gold medals in the last competition day in Pueblo

The second part of the finals were finished at the World Boxing’s U19 World Boxing Championships in Pueblo, United States on Day7 and the full competition ended with ten exciting contests. Five of the Asians from India and Japan achieved their titles in the first edition of the U19 World Boxing Championships.
The total number of the boxers was 165 from 25 nations in the United States where 20 champions will be crowned after the finals. India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand were the participating Asian countries in Pueblo.
India was the best among the Asian countries with 4 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals and became the second best squad after England in Pueblo. Japan earned two gold and one bronze medal in the event but Kazakhstan, South Korea and Thailand also had finalists in this historic championship.
Boxers who were born in 2006 and in 2007, were eligible to participate at the U19 World Boxing Championships in the United States. The competition was seven-days long in Pueblo and several Asian referees and judges also supported the success of the event.
Japan’s East Asian Youth Games winner Fuma Kumamoto was well-prepared against United States’ Brandenburg Youth Cup gold medallist Emmanuel Chance and he used the faults of his opponent at the 55kg weight class final. The Japanese boxer had longer reach, he had the advantage also in speed therefore Kumamoto claimed his nation’s first title in Pueblo.
The next Japanese sensation, the best boxer of the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Astana, Yuga Fujiki amazed once again. The 60kg weight class boxer reduced the fighting distance successfully against Thailand’s Asian Junior Champion Aphichit Chaemdi and he remained unbeaten after this final bout.
The Indians earned three titles in the last competition day in Pueblo where their Parthavi Grewal overcame Netherlands’ Aaliyah Hoppema in the attacks and she bagged the gold medal at the women’s 65kg weight division.
The next two Indians were in trouble after the first round but with outstanding fighting spirit and stamina, both were able to turn back their finals. Vanshika Goswami stopped Germany’s Victoria Gatt at the women’s +80kg weight class, while Hemant Sangwan made a great finish against United States’ Rishon Sims at the men’s 90kg.
