Li, Lin, Khalokov and Jalolov won the last boxing titles at the Olympic Games

Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov defended his Olympic throne in Paris in the last session of the entire Games but his teammate Abdumalik Khalokov, China’s Li Qian and Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu Ting all bagged gold medals on Day14.
Uzbekistan achieved five, while China three gold medals and Chinese Taipei one title for the Asian continent which made a clear dominancy for ASBC.
Thirteen weight categories, 248 top boxers, 124 female and 124 male athletes from 69 nations competed in the boxing event of the Paris Olympics.
Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, China, Chinese Taipei, India, the Philippines, Tajikistan, Jordan, Mongolia, South Korea, DPR Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Palestine had boxers in the Olympic Games from the Asian continent.
Chinese Taipei’s two-time World Champion Lin Yu Ting eliminated most of her top rivals in this Olympic Games in Paris and she was the high favourite against Poland’s 20-year-old Julia Szeremeta who is their first medallist since 1992. Lin not only used her longer reach in this final but she stepped into closer range with heavy shots to earn Chinese Taipei’s first ever gold medal in the Olympic boxing.
Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Khalokov won all of the major championships during his career and finally the Olympic title is on the list of his achievements as well. The Uzbek defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu fifteen months ago and he repeated the same strong performance on their re-match. Khalokov overcame his Kyrgyz opponent several times in this final to win the men’s featherweight (57kg) and made his collection full with this title.
China’s Li Qian knew the atmosphere of the Olympic finals as she claimed a silver medal at the Tokyo Games three years ago. The Chinese middleweight (75kg) boxer met with another veteran World Champion, Panama’s Atheyna Bylon who attended in her third Olympic Games in Paris. The southpaw Bylon and Li both were patient in the attacks and in that chess game the Chinese was more successful to win this final bout.
Uzbekistan’s defending champion at the super heavyweight (+92kg), Bakhodir Jalolov was fully concentrated in the first round against Spain’s European Champion Ayoub Ghadfa Drissi El Aissaoui and following his tough actions, the referee had to count his opponent twice in the first round. The Spaniard was enough experienced to survive these dangerous actions and he claimed his nation’s first silver medal since 2000 but Jalolov remained on the top of the Olympic podium after Tokyo.
