Nurbek Oralbay is Kazakhstan’s first medallist in the Paris Olympic Games

Tajikistan’s Davlat Boltayev is their first Olympic medallist in boxing since Mavzuna Chorieva’s bronze in the London 2012 edition. The Tajik heavyweight (92kg) boxer eliminated his Irish opponent in the Paris Olympics today and he is now a guaranteed medallist.
Thirteen weight categories, 248 top boxers, 124 female and 124 male athletes from 69 nations will compete in the boxing event of the Paris Olympics.
Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, China, Chinese Taipei, India, the Philippines, Tajikistan, Jordan, Mongolia, South Korea, DPR Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Palestine will have boxers in the Olympic Games from the Asian continent.
Chinese Taipei’s Wu Shih Yi has already joined the semi-finals in the Paris Olympics while their two-time World Champion Lin Yu Ting is still in the preliminary stage at the women’s featherweight (57kg). Lin had an Uzbek opponent in the Round of 16, Sitora Turdibekova but she knew her well enough to keep the best distance from the first seconds until the last gong therefore she secured her place in the last eight.
Nurbek Oralbay of Kazakhstan is the defending World Champion at the men’s light heavyweight (80kg) and he had the rage and the power today after his twin brother’s tight loss. The 24-year-old boxer destroyed his opponent’s defence in the first round and Oralbay produced an ever better period in the second. Azerbaijan’s Murad Allakhverdiyev, the European Games bronze medallist, was not able to switch into a higher tempo therefore Nurbek Oralbay won Kazakhstan’s first boxing medal in Paris.
Uzbekistan’s superstar Bakhodir Jalolov is the defending champion in almost all of the main events including the Olympic Games. The Uzbek boxer did not underestimate the Australian giant Teremoana Junior Teremoana today due to his opponent’s impressive KO record this year. Jalolov was better in the exchanges mainly in the first and third rounds therefore he eliminated the dangerous Australian and he will now meet Germany’s European Champion Nelvie Tiafack in the semi-finals.
Philippines’ Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Nesthy Petecio had a tough job against a local favourite, Amina Zidani of France but she managed to beat the European Games winner at the women’s featherweight (57kg). The next Asian success in this weight class was delivered by China’s promising Xu Zichun who had a hectic success over Colombia’s young talent, Valeria Arboleda.
Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov and Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossynov both are World Champions and the stars of the men’s flyweight (51kg). The Kazakh, who claimed bronze in the last Tokyo edition, started the first round better than the Olympic Champion from Rio but Dusmatov could turn back their bout and the Uzbek joined the semi-finals in Paris.
