Assylzhan Serikbay won the best final against the two-time Asian U22 Champion Nursultan Altynbek at the 30th Nurmakhanov Tournament

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan shared the gold medals at the 30th edition of the Abdusalam Nurmakhanov Tournament in the city of Turkestan.
Boxers were able to compete from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) in the event. Altogether 145 elite male boxers participated in the new edition of the Abdusalam Nurmakhanov Tournament in Kazakhstan.
Mr. Abdusalam Nurmakhanov was one of the most famous boxers and boxing coaches from the city of Turkestan who served the country’s boxing life from the 1950s until the late 1990s. As a boxer he won 222 out of his 239 bouts and he earned the title of the Kazakhstan SSR National Championships 11-times, and he achieved four medals in the All-USSR Nationals.
Kazakhstan’s new talent, Nurzat Ongarov won the first title in the Nurmakhanov Memorial Tournament, he defeated a Shymkent-based boxer, Tileuberdi Suleimeni at the men’s minimumweight (48kg).
Kyrgyzstan’s Asian Youth Championships silver medallist Bekzat Ergeshov had excellent performance during the whole competition but Kazakhstan’s more experienced Yernur Kairat was able to beat him in the final of the flyweight (51kg).
The Almaty-based Zhandaulet Sarsenbayev and Pavlodar region’s Islam Mashkentayev met in a superb bantamweight (54kg) final and the first won the battle of the youngsters in this top meeting in Turkestan.
Nursultan Altynbek is a two-time Asian U22 Champion fantastic talent at the featherweight (57kg) but he suffered a loss in the final to the Bocskai Memorial winner Assylzhan Serikbay due to his opponent’s physical advantage and strength.
Adilet Kurmetov is a very experienced boxer at the lightweight (60kg) with more than 10 years of international routine therefore he was too strong for Zhanarys Orynbay in the fifth final of the competition.
Two Kazakh teenagers such as Bakhtiyar Anarbayev and Nurbek Mursal advanced to the finals of the light welterweight (63.5kg) and welterweight (67kg) but both lost to young Uzbeks, Abdullokh Madaminov and Asilbek Abdurakhmanov for the title bouts.
Aman Konsbekov won a gold medal for the Turkestan region at the light middleweight (71kg) while the 19-year-old ASBC medallist Islam Sovetov bagged the title at the middleweight (75kg) in the Nurmakhanov Memorial. Karagandy region’s Nurmagomed Yusupov decided his heavyweight (92kg) final quickly against a promising opponent, Beknur Batyrbek.
