Uzbekistan’s star Jakhongir Zokirov made a fantastic entrée in Astana

Uzbekistan’s super heavyweight (+92kg) star Jakhongir Zokirov made a fantastic entrée in the evening session of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan on Day4.

Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov is not only a multiple Asian Champion boxer but the 20-year-old is the top super heavyweight (+92kg) talent in the entire world. The Uzbek was untouchable for India’s Rhythm and he had a great finish in the first round and the southpaw led after three minutes in all of the scorecards. Zokirov finished the bout with heavy jabs in the second when the Sri Lankan referee confirmed his RSC success in Astana.

Jordan’s Razi Ahmad Alhyasat competed already at the 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships and he continued the participation of the events in Astana. He moved up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) and he needed less than one round to beat Kyrgyzstan’s Said Anarbekov today.

Thailand’s Thipsatcha Yodwaree eliminated Uzbekistan’s Youth World Champion Gulsevar Ganiyeva in the Round of 16 at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) but she had another busy job to do in the last eight. Kazakhstan’s Gulnar Turapbay found the best weapon against the Southeast Asian girl in the beginning of the second round and she eliminated Yodwaree in a hectic female contest.

Chinese Taipei’s Liu Yu Shan had similar performance in the first round as South Korea’s Mu Ga Yeon in their women’s light flyweight (50kg) meeting. Liu found the best fighting distance in the second round and her quick left-handed jabs were enough successful to win this quarter-final and take Chinese Taipei’s first medal in Astana.

Vietnam’s Youth World bronze medallist Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran is member of their elite national squad as well who controlled the first round against Mongolia’s Altanbek Khulan. Nguyen received more punches in the second when the Mongolian found the best range and she was able to turn back the contest as several of her teammates in the past.

Thailand’s Asian Youth silver medallist Natnicha Chongprongklang moved down to the bantamweight (54kg) and she used her beautiful technical skills to win her quarter-final against Vietnam’s Tran Thi Kim Chi. The next fantastic performance in this weight class was delivered by Kazakhstan’s Youth World Champion Elina Bazarova who also stopped her opponent, Mongolia’s 19-year-old Ariunzul Chinbat.

Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Ching Ya tried to reduce the fighting distance against Tajikistan’s Fotima Begmuradova but her efforts were not successful in the first round. The southpaw from Chinese Taipei was not able to keep the rhythm against the tall Tajik girl therefore the technician Begmuradova earned the most awaited medal in Astana.

Ayiguzaili Maihesuti lives and trains in the Xinjiang region in China and she had the height advantage against India’s Priyanka and she tried to keep her opponent on long. As all of the Indians, Priyanka was never stopped attacking in this lightweight (60kg) quarter-final but the Chinese boxer had the better technical skills in this contest.
