Lin Yu Ting and Lee Cheng Wei were confident in the President’s Cup finals

The Chinese Taipei National President’s Cup turned to its final stage in Taichung City, the elite finals were on the program of the fifth competition day. The two-time World Champion and Asian Games winner Lin Yu Ting dominated her final contest but Lee Cheng Wei and Lin Yan also impressed in the session.
The President’s Cup is the most important competition in Chinese Taipei, their national selections from the youngest age groups up to the elites. The former President of the Chinese Taipei Boxing Association Mr. Lee Wu Nan followed all of the bouts in the session and he presented several medals in Taichung City.
Chinese Taipei has always strong potentials in the smaller weight categories and their Guo Cheng Hsian made a great effort in the first final contest of the day. He overcame Zhou Ming Hsian in the attacks at the men’s minimumweight (48kg) and he became the first elite winner in the President’s Cup.
Lee Cheng Wei represented Chinese Taipei in the recent Asian Games and ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and he was named as the main favourite at the men’s featherweight (57kg). He had the height advantage against Lin Jun Yuan in this final bout and he worked from longer range from the first seconds. The southpaw Lee had the better technical skills and he had the shots from his best distance in the first and second rounds. The national team member proved his development in defense and despite Lin’s efforts in the third round, he won this contest in Taichung City.
Chen Hsin won the women’s bantamweight (54kg) at the 2022 President’s Cup and she was the favourite against Tsai Hsin Hui but she suffered a loss to her opponent at the featherweight (57kg) final and became runner-up once again.
Lin Yu Ting, the two-time World Champion and Asian Games winner, competed at the women’s lightweight (60kg) in this President’s Cup as a preparation for the Olympic Games. The 28-year-old star was not only technically better than Ye Chen Hsuan but she finished the contest winning it by RSC in the first round.
Lu Tsung Wei claimed a silver medal at the light welterweight (63.5kg) one year ago and he tried to do his best to switch this into a gold medal against a young hope, Lin Yan. His opponent used his longer hands as the best weapon and Lin won their impressive final contest by 3:2 split decision.
Lin Zhe Wei won all of the three rounds in each scorecard against Hsu Wei Ming and he claimed the title at the men’s light middleweight (71kg) in Taichung City. The southpaw Huang Guan Qun attacked from the first seconds against his opponent, Chen Hsin Hong and he dominated the middleweight (75kg) final. Pan Chen Wei earned a gold medal at the super heavyweight (+92kg) at the 2022 President’s Cup and he moved down to the heavyweight (92kg) for this event. Pan smaller than Yang Yu Song and he was not able to follow the rhythm of the contest in this final and Yang won their contest by split decision.
