The first finalists are revealed in Astana

The first finalists celebrated their today’s victories at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan. The women’s junior boxers are world-class in Asia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, and Chinese Taipei were the bests in the session.

Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Palestine, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Yemen are the 22 participating nations in the event.

Tankibayeva and Musurmonova are the pinweight finalists

India’s Neha Lunthi and Kazakhstan’s Aiym Tankibayeva opened the session in Astana today, both of them were excellent in the previous round. The Indian found her best rhythm earlier than her Kazakh opponent and she landed the better shots in the first round. The 15-year-old Kazakh enjoyed the support of the home crowd and she exceeded her previous level which secured for her a spot in the finals of the pinweight (46kg). The Kazakh girl will be meeting Uzbekistan’s Maftuna Musurmonova who had a narrow success over Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Meng Sin.

Shen Shin Ai is Chinese Taipei’s first medallist

Chinese Taipei’s Shen Sin Ai moved a lot on feet to avoid the Indian attacks in the first round and her strategy worked well in the opening two minutes. India’s Palak Ajay Zambare moved closer to her opponent from Chinese Taipei in the second round and some of her jabs were effective in that period. Shen was a hard target for the Indian and she became her nation’s first boxer who secured a place in the final. The light flyweight (48kg) boxer will now meet for the title of the category Kazakhstan’s Sila Bibolsynkyzy.

Pari and Ravshanova joined the finals after their RSC triumphs

India’s Pari and Kyrgyzstan’s Aliezim Kushubekova were the first semi-finalists at the flyweight (50kg) in Astana where both boxers gave in everything from the start. The Kyrgyz boxer developed a lot since her last appearance but the Indian was still too experienced for her. Uzbekistan’s Robiya Ravshanova and Vietnam’s Luc Thao Thanh both impressed in the quarter-final stage of the championships and they had a tactical first round today. The Uzbek turned up the heat in the second and she finished the bout in the third with heavy shots.

Nisha and Turgunova are the finalists at the light bantamweight

Kazakhstan’s Aisha Sariyeva was smaller than her Indian opponent, Nisha but she had aggressive style of boxing from the first seconds. The Kazakh moved forward without any stoppage, she had the strong physical condition to do that in all of the three rounds but she received counter-punches from the Indian’s best distance. Sariyeva caught Nisha in the second round with a heavy blow but the Indian was smarter after that episode and she eliminated the Kazakh boxer. Tajikistan’s new female No.1, Farinoz Abdullova and Uzbekistan’s Muslima Turgunova had a fantastic battle in the second semi-final.

Aiyazhan Syzdyk had a sensational performance at the bantamweight today

Kazakhstan’s Aiyazhan Syzdyk had the height disadvantage to India’s Dimple at the bantamweight (54kg), same as in the previous battle between the two nations. Syzdyk landed right-handed hooks with several angles and she controlled the first round with heavy shots. The 16-year-old Kazakh repeated her performance in the second round as well therefore all of the judges favored her. The Taldykorgan-based boxer delivered one of the best performances in the session and she will now meet Uzbekistan’s Zukhro Rustamova for the title.

India’s Vini is on the way to defend her junior title

India’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Vini is still in the junior age group and she a top name in this competition. She controlled the exchanges with her longer hands against Kyrgyzstan’s Zarina Kurbanova in the first round and she had the strong advantage on the judges’ scorecards. The Kyrgyz girl progressed this year but the defending champion was still too experienced therefore the Indian won their contest by unanimous decision. Vini’s final opponent will be a strong puncher, Uzbekistan’s Sevara Mamatova who had a quick success over Thailand’s Natjima Thaosuwan.

Kassymkhan eliminated her main rival at the lightweight

Kazakhstan’s Tolganay Kassymkhan had effective short range punches against Uzbekistan’s Rukhshona Shakarova in the first round and she felt the best tactics from the first seconds in their lightweight (60kg) semi-final. The 15-year-old Kassymkhan was never stopped attacking and she had powerful hooks from her close distance to win this bout confidently. The Kazakh joined the finals and she will now meet for the gold medal India’s Chirom Joyshree Devi who stopped Tajikistan’s Mino Azamzoda.
