An amazing top contest have been held at the weekend between two stars during the Kanto University Boxing League. AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Rinka Kinoshita met with ASBC Asian Youth Champion unbeaten hope Hikaru Shinohara in an exciting contest.
Rinka Kinoshita trains in the Nippon Sports Science University and decided to move down to the light flyweight (48kg) in the recent one year. The 21-year-old boxer is one of the biggest hopes of the next generation of women athletes in Japan who spent a lot of time in the gyms to strengthen her physical conditions.
Hikaru Shinohara is member of the Aoyama Gakuin University and will be turning to 19 this year but she had perfect pedigree before their contests. Shinohara won all of her national events in the recent years and she claimed gold medals at the ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and at the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament in Hungary in 2019.
Kinoshita used the best tactic against the younger and smaller Shinohara and she was able to keep her level until the end of the contest. The final verdict was 4-1 in the favour of Rinka Kinoshita who proved that she could be Japan’s new elite national team member in the upcoming international competitions. Following the confirmation of the result of the bout, Shinohara was disappointed as she lost her first contest during her whole career after more than 35 consecutive wins.
