Stars of our continent’s boxing life have done powerful job in the Asian Games on Day4
Further 32 preliminary women and men contests were held in the boxing tournament of the Asian Games in Jakarta on Day4. The winners advanced to the quarter-finals in the Games where the stars of Asia’s boxing such as Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan, Abilkhan Amankul of Kazakhstan and Vikas Krishan Yadav of India won their contests today.
Altogether 194 boxers from 31 countries are fighting for the 10 gold medals in the boxing event of the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games. China, host Indonesia, India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Mongolia and Thailand are attending with maximum number of 10 boxers in the Asian Games.
Uzbekistan’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games winner and two-times ASBC Asian Champion Hasanboy Dusmatov never claimed any gold medal in the Asian Games yet therefore he is focused in Jakarta to his next big target. The 25-year-old Uzbek light flyweight (49kg) boxer controlled his whole bout against Laos’ Khamsathone Khamphouvanh who survived their contest until the end of the final gong.
Kyrgyzstan’s National Champion Mirlan Turkbay Uulu has been competing in the international events since 2011 and regained his place in the national top team. The 28-year-old Kyrgyz light flyweight (49kg) boxer started his preliminary bout in different rhythm as Iraq’s Hassan Ali Naser and the referee counted his rival quickly. Turkbay Uulu felt he would be able to finish their contest and following his combinations the referee confirmed his RSC success in the first round.
Indonesia’s Mario Blasius Kali started his campaign successfully two days ago and he continued his winning path against Timor Leste’s Jose Barreto Quintas Da Silva in the Asian Games. The 24-year-old Indonesian light flyweight (49kg) boxer dominated the first round which determines their contest. Kali was more experienced than his younger rival and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Games.
Philippines’ AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Carlo Paalam won the last preparation event the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok this July where he was one of the best boxers. The Filipino light flyweight (49kg) boxer defeated Chinese Taipei’s Tu Po Wei in Bangkok seven weeks ago and he repeated that performance in Jakarta as well on their re-match.
Thailand’s ASBC Asian Champion and AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chatchai Butdee is a strong veteran boxer but he was not the favourite against Kazakhstan’s defending AIBA World Champion Kairat Yeraliyev. The 33-year-old Thai bantamweight (56kg) boxer recovered from his smaller injuries and tactically he was better than Yeraliyev today. The Thai boxer exceeded the previous expectations and defeated his star rival winning the bout by unanimous decision.
Pakistan’s Naqeebullah eliminated United Arab Emirates’ Majid Al-Naqbi in a close contest in the last 32 and he had another tight fight in the fourth competition day. Pakistan’s new bantamweight (56kg) boxer had to face with Bhutan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Dorji Nima in the second preliminary round and he proved better performance than as his first. The Pakistani boxer had excellent stamina in the final minutes therefore he was able to win their hectic contest in Jakarta by split decision.
Indonesia’s Sunan Agung Amoragam claimed bronze medal in the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament but he was not the favourite against Kyrgyzstan’s Sirodjiddin Abdullaev who won several events in Russia. The 21-year-old Indonesian bantamweight (56kg) boxer used his excellent footwork to keep the best fighting distance and his hand was raised after the last gong.
Uzbekistan’s Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov defeated his Olympic Games winner national rival Shakhobiddin Zoirov in a Russian international tournament and at the very first time, he received the right to compete in a big elite event. The ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Uzbek bantamweight (56kg) boxer was quicker than Jordan’s Mohammed Abdelaziz Al-Wadi and his better skills delivered for him a place in the quarter-finals in Jakarta.
Uzbekistan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist and ASBC Asian Champion Ikboljon Kholdarov is the main gold medal contender of the light welterweight (64kg) but his first opponent was not an ideal one, Jordan’s Asian Games bronze medallist Obada Al-Kasbeh. The Jordanian pride was aggressive and kept the focus but Kholdarov’s technical skills were controlled their contest. In the second Uzbekistan vs. Jordan battle the 21-year-old Kholdarov won the contest by unanimous decision.
Mongolia’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist and Rio 2016 Olympian Chinzorig Baatarsukh won the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament and other big events this year proving he is a top boxer at the light welterweight (64kg). The Mongolian boxer felt the tempo, jumped into the best fighting range and his unpredictable movements were too much for DPR Korea’s Japan-based Ri Kon Thae.
Kazakhstan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Abilkhan Amankul is a world class boxer at the men’s middleweight (75kg) who was the flag bearer of their national team in the Opening Ceremony. The 21-year-old Kazakh star controlled his bout against Thailand’s Aphisit Kanankhokkhruea and defeated his seven-year older rival by large margin of differences.
India’s Commonwealth Games winner and Asian Games gold medallist Vikas Krishan Yadav also began his campaign in the Asian Games where he had to meet with a neighbouring rival Pakistan’s Tanveer Ahmed. India’s most experienced boxer was in different level in the first round which determined their middleweight (75kg) bout. Ahmed did not give up the fight, he had nice combinations but Krishan was more experienced than him and the Indian advanced to the quarter-final of the category.
