AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships – Drawing
16 Asian countries are competing in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Astana
The official drawing ceremony was held in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan where our continent’s best boxers will be fighting for the medals and for the available spots for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The medallists of the three women Olympic weight categories will be qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games from the Astana event.
After Qinhuangdao in 2012 and Jeju in 2014 another Asian city, the capital of Kazakhstan can host the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships which is the ninth edition. The competition will be held in the ten women weight classes: 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 81 kg and +81 kg.
The first competition day will be held in Astana tomorrow where 88 Asian women boxers from 16 countries will be fighting for the good results. China, India and host Kazakhstan each will be competing with maximum number of 10 boxers. Uzbekistan will have 9 athletes while Mongolia 8 boxers in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. One of our developing country, Jordan will be there in the event at the very first time. China’s defending AIBA Women’s World Champion Yang Xiaoli was seeded as No.1 in the Light Heavyweight class (81 kg) in Astana.
