21 champions have been crowned in the UAE Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Championships in Fujairah

The United Arab Emirates Boxing Federation hosted its Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships in the city of Fujairah which is located in the coastline of the Gulf of Oman. The event was held for the elite, youth, junior and schoolboys boxers as well and saw 21 new champions in Fujairah.
The number of the boxers in the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships was 10 schoolboys, 20 male juniors, 7 youth boxers and 35 elite athletes. Altogether 72 male boxers competed for the titles in the event in the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships in Fujairah.
United Arab Emirates sent seven boxers to the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships to Puerto Princesa which was record in their boxing history. United Arab Emirates Boxing Federation also attended in the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships which was their first historical participation in the men’s elite level.
The gold medals in the schoolboys part of the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships was achieved by Yousif Al-Shokari, Nawaf Ali and Zayed Al-Dahwari. Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 were eligible to compete in their national event in Fujairah.
Ali Al-Kharoosi competed in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Puerto Princesa and his international experiences were enough to beat all of his rivals in the junior flyweight (50kg). Ali’s brother Saif Al-Kharoosi also controlled his contests in Fujairah and defeated Nahyan Ali in the final of the junior light bantamweight (52kg).
Another brother duo Saif Mosabbah Al-Riyami and ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Nawaf Mosabbah Al-Riyami also won their weight classes in the junior part of the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships in Fujairah, dominating their fights.
Amer Al-Suwaider has got also experiences from the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships which delivered for him a clear success over Saif Rashed Al-Kendi in the title contest of their national event. Fujairah’s Mohamed Abedelwahed delivered a small surprise in the final of the junior heavyweight (+80kg) where he was able to beat ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Saoud Rashid Al-Barout.
In the youth part of the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships Khalifa Al-Swedi and Salem Al-Meshjari were the winners of the flyweight (52kg) and the bantamweight (56kg). Khalifa Al-Swedi defeated Sultan Al-Baloshi in the final while Salem Al-Meshjari was too strong for Abdullah Al-Shamshi.
The first gold medal in the elite section was achieved by Fujairah’s Abdullah Al-Mullah who won the gold medal in the 2016 Gulf Countries Tournament and competed also in the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event. The experienced boxer triumphed over Police’s Ahmad Al-Mesmari in the final of the flyweight (52kg).
Majed Walied delivered a small sensation in the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Alsharqi National Boxing Championships where he defeated ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships competitor Shehab Al-Dhabari in the final of the lightweight (60kg). Arab Youth Championships bronze medallist Fahad Al-Khoori of Abu Dhabi moved up to the welterweight (69kg) and the teenager was excellent in the final against Abdullah Al-Hajri.
Gulf Countries Tournament winner Ibrahim Al-Zaabi is a veteran boxer at the heavyweight (91kg) who returned to the world of boxing after a short break and dominated his final against Hamad Al-Meamari. The super heavyweight (+91kg) is a stronger category in United Arab Emirates’ boxing life and their new champion is Rahma Al-Rahma who overwhelmed Hamdan Al-Afif in the title contest.
