Cambodia to select 2023 SEA Games bets in national tilt

With the 2023 Southeast Asian Games slated to take place on its home soil, the Cambodia Boxing Federation will look for its best bets come the National Games scheduled on November 24 to 29 in the capital city of Phnom Penh.

The national tilt will pit hopefuls in nine weight divisions: minimum (48kg), fly (51kg), bantam (54kg), feather (57kg), light (60kg), light welter (63.5kg), welter (67kg), light middle (71kg) and middle (75kg).

Winners will earn a huge chance to compete in the 32nd edition of the regional meet which will take place on May 5-16 next year.

The Cambodian boxers will eye to eclipse their performance in the latest SEA Games held in Vietnam earlier this year.

Cambodia took home a silver medal courtesy of top men’s heavyweight bet Phearak Ong and three bronzes from Vy Sreysros, Sao Rangsey and Hun Kim Heang. Secretary general and advisor to the National Olympic Committee Sophoan Buy, who is also a member of the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) Board of Directors, and the rest of the Cambodia Boxing Federation are working hard to prep their boxers and even hired a Kazakh coach to increase their medal chances.
