Nine Asian countries registered to the strong Boxam Tournament which will start next week

Nine strong Asian countries have registered to participate in the upcoming Boxam Elite Tournament which will start in la Nucia, Spain on January 29. The next edition of the famous Boxam Elite Tournament will be held between January 29 and February 4 in La Nucia, Alicante region in Spain.

The Royal Spanish Boxing Federation’s first international event in 2024 will be one of the biggest ever competitions in the country after the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships.

Among the top Asian boxing powers, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, and Thailand are also on the entry list. Bahrain and Palestine will also send their squads to the Boxam Elite Tournament to Spain.

Bahrain, Belgium, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, England, France, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Mali, Mexico, Palestine, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Refugee Team, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Uzbekistan and Wales have registered to participate at the Boxam Elite Tournament.

The upcoming Boxam Elite Tournament could be a preparation event for the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which will be taking place in Busto Arsizio, Italy from February 29.

Following the Boxam Elite Tournament an international training camp will be also held in Los Alcazares, Murcia region to prepare well to the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event. The international training camp will be taking place in the High Performance Center in Los Alcazares from February 4 until the 28th. Several of the Asian teams will stay in Spain to train together against strong countries from all over the world.

Uzbekistan selected eight boxers in those four weight categories two in each divisions where the country was not able to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games yet. Among them, Ruslan Abdullayev (63.5kg) and Asadkhudja Muydinkhudjayev (71kg) are reigning World Champions but the Boxam Tournament will be also a selection for them before the 1st World Qualifier.

Kazakhstan’s World Champions as Nazym Kyzaibay (50kg) and Lazzat Kungeibayeva (+81kg), furthermore the Asian Champions, Karina Ibragimova (57kg) and Madina Nurshayeva (70kg) are also members of the travelling team.

Thailand’s Thitisan Panmod has already qualified for the Paris Olympics, but his top teammates such as the Asian Champion Bunjong Sinsiri, Somchay Wongsuwan, Khunatip Pidnuch, Atichai Phoemsap, Weerapon Jongjoho and Jakkapong Yomkhot all registered to participate in La Nucia.

Chinese Taipei’s World Champions, Huang Hsiao Wen and Chen Nien Chin will be competing at the Boxam Tournament next week. The Filipino silver medallists from the Tokyo Olympic Games, Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam will compete in the Spanish international tournament as well. Kyrgyzstan’s World Championships bronze medallist Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu (60kg) is also on the registration list.
