Kyrgyzstan’s first event in the year their Youth & Junior Tournament is running in Bishkek

One of the first events of the new year, the Kyrgyzstan Youth & Junior National Tournament is running in their capital city in Bishkek. Altogether 46 youth and 73 junior boxers are attending in the Kyrgyzstan Youth & Junior National Tournament which is holding at the Belek Boxing Hall.

The competition is their first selection for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships which will be held in Amman, Jordan from February 27 until March 15. The registrations are already open for the second ASBC Boxing Championships in 2022 and Kyrgyzstan has got strong expectations also in Amman.

The Kyrgyz boxers impressed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai on August 2021 where the country claimed thirteen medals. Their youth talents earned two silver and four bronze medals in Dubai while their junior boxers bagged seven medals altogether.

Boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 can attend in the youth part of the national selection tournament in Bishkek. The younger talents who were born in 2006 and in 2007 can compete in the junior national tournament. Several of these young hopes competed in the recent editions of the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships as youth, junior and schoolboys.

The junior competition holds in fifteen different weight categories, additionally the 42kg and the 44kg also have been involved to the official program of the national competition. The youth boxers can attend in the official 13 weight categories from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg). A local boxer from the Belek Boxing Club, Mukhamed Dursunov attended at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships and he is one of the top favourites at the youth light heavyweight (80kg) in Bishkek. The biggest name in the youth part of the competition is Argen Baktybekov from the Nurlan Abdykalykov Boxing School who achieved silver medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and moved back to the heavyweight (92kg). Ruslan Murzakhanov (54kg), Eldiyar Khaldarbekov (60kg), Bekbol Dzholdoshev (63.5kg), Musa Tekeyev (67kg) and Zhanbolot Syrtbayev (71kg) are also favourites of their weight categories in Bishkek.
