Chinese Taipei attends at the AIBA World Boxing Championships with record number of 10 boxers

Chinese Taipei’s top male boxers will return to the international stage after one and half year of break at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Their national management selected ten boxers to attend in the AIBA World Boxing Championships to increase their international experiences.

Chinese Taipei has got impressive women’s national team which earned already three gold medals in the history of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and also one bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Chinese Taipei’s male boxers are not so successful yet in the international events but their progress is continuous.

Their first big step was a bronze medal at the 2013 AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships, then a historical male quota for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and gold at the 2018 FISU University World Boxing Championships. Chinese Taipei had several local competition this year including national events for the university students and the boxing tournament of the National Games.

Lin Hong Da competed in a few events in the middle of the 2010s and will make a comeback to the national team after a break representing the country at the minimumweight (48kg). Their flyweight (51kg) boxer, Tu Po Wei is the most experienced team member who claimed medals in such events as the FISU University World Boxing Championships and the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament.

Li Yu Hung will be turning to 20 by the time of the AIBA World Boxing Championships and represents the country at the bantamweight (54kg). Chen Po Yi is among the most experienced national team members who had dozens of international contests and competes also at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman. Their 25-year-old lightweight (60kg) boxer, Hung Chia Ching will also return to the national team after a break as Lin Hong Da.

Lai Chu En has done an impressive breakthrough five years ago when he qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the age of 20 after 20-years of break in the country’s boxing life. The currently 25-year-old boxer competed in several major events and competed in all levels of boxing. Lin Yu is a 20-year-old talent who competed in the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships as junior and youth talent while Chuan Wang Jia Jun is an absolutely newcomer in the squad.

Kan Chia Wei fought out his place in the elite national team at the age of 18 five years ago and he is famous of his strong punches at the middleweight (75kg). Kan Chia Wei competed in several international events excluding the Olympic Games and he is hungry for the successes. Chung Chia Yao was also involved to the national team and will attend at the light heavyweight (80kg).
